Including highly anticipated successor to the LX3

Panasonic unveils five new digital cameras

Panasonic has unveiled a number of new additions to its Lumix range of digital cameras.

Top of the range, the new DMC-LX5 is the successor to the well-received DMC-LX3 and is described as a premium compact camera. Panasonic says the LX5 is fully re-designed from its predecessor with changes in the CCD and the image processing engine, and with further improvements and upgrades to the camera, ensuring the new LX5 produces high picture quality and creative images.

The camera is equipped with the newly developed, super bright, F2.0 ultra wide angle 24mm LEICA DC VARIO-SUMMICRON lens which minimises distortion for stunning, true-to-life images with outstanding resolution and detail, said Panasonic.

New Panasonic DMC-FZ100, offers full HD movie recording with 24x optical zoom and hi-speed response. It’s also quipped with what Panasonic calls "Sonic Speed Auto Focus" which the company claims provides the industry’s fastest, high-speed start-up "giving the camera extremely fast response levels helping to capture even the most short lived photo opportunities."

Other cameras Panasonic unveiled include the Lumix FZ45"Hybrid Super Zoom Camera", Lumix FX700 "Stylish Compact Digital Camera" and the Lumix FT10 "Stylish Flat Rugged Digital Camera". The latter is a shock and water resistant compact with an internal 4X zoom lens.

Further details are on the Panasonic web site but the company has yet to announce pricing.
