Mimo launches 10-inch USB monitor

Mimo Monitors has launched a 10-inch touch screen USB driven monitor into the US market.

Sporting a fold out stand for tablet style use or mounting, the iMo Monster is 1-inch thick, weighs just 800gr and features 1024 x 600 resolution which the company claims offers sharp graphics and clear images for video, graphics, and a full range of business applications.

With full touchscreen capabilities, the 10-inch Monster is targeted at Point-of-Sale (POS) data input, signature capture, educational software, Photoshop tool palettes – as well as providing the versatility for use in health care, hospitality, retail, education, sound/video editing, and other industries.

Supporting both Windows and Mac OSX operating systems, USB-driven display devices like the Monster are also of interest to allow users to de-clutter their crowded, primary desktop monitor and offload applications such as web browsers, Office apps and social networking platforms like Tweetdeck, media players, chat windows etc.

The device requires just a single USB 2.0 connection for both connectivity and power – meaning no extra VGA cables or video cards. The device will cost around $259.99 (£173).

While the Mimo has yet to launch products outside of the US, rival manufacture Lilliput has a range of USB-driven devices in the European market including a similarly sized 10-inch unit (without touch screen) availablefrom Amazon for £160.
