Best Buy is facing a legal challenge from a Spanish company called Worldwide Sales International pertaining to the use of its name in Europe.
According to Drapers Online, the Spanish firm has been trading as Best Buy International for the last 16 years, and has filed legal papers to stop the US retail giant from using the name in Europe.
“Until a negotiated solution is reached, we hereby request that your client refrain from using the Best Buy trademark in Europe, issuing any press articles or making any announcement of its imminent activities in Europe,” read the complaint.
The dispute went to court but was dismissed by the judge, leaving the issue unresolved.
