BBC insults Facebook users

The BBC has accidentally insulted Facebook fans, after some holding text was left in place that appears to imply Facebook users are ‘saddoes’.

According to the Media Blog, the BBC left a number of mistakes in an uncompleted webpage on its Olympics micro site, including an image of the Queen labelled as ‘Pakistan hockey’, a Twitter link that read: “Follow the latest updates etc and so on”, while most controversially, the Facebook link read: “You can also become a saddo on Facebook.”

Although the text has now been removed, the mistake led the Media Blog to speculate that “the BBC still doesn’t quite respect the audience it is seeking.”
