Analysts predict sales of televisions will rise this year

Over 25,000 3D TVs sold in Europe

Over 25,000 3D TVs have been sold in Europe, researchers have found.

According to GfK Retail and Technology, this figure only covers up to the end of May, so the real total could in fact be much higher.

GfK claims that “almost every notable television manufacturer does now offer TV screens with 3D settings, or will soon have them in their product range”, despite the technology still being “in its infancy”.

The analysts surveyed 120 electronic retailers in Germany, France and the UK, and found that 3D TVs would be an integral part of their offerings in the future.

In addition, 90 per cent of retailers said that internet television had also sparked interest among their customers.

238 million TVs were sold globally last year – a figure GfK predicts will rise to 252 million this year.
