Vision Events MD points to market optimism

Managing director of Vision Events Nick Cabrera claims the IT market is infused with a sense of optimism as we emerge at the tail end of the economic crisis, with new innovations in the sector promising to fuel growth.

Speaking after the second day of Retail Vision Europe in London, he told PCR: “There is a lot more optimism out there. The IT industry expects growth in the corporate sector and many of those products are finding their way into the home. At events like this you get the sense retail is looking forward to a better year, and they are here looking for the next innovation.”

Cabrera also claimed retailers need to diversify in order to stay on top.

“They can’t just do one type of product, they have to cater for the wider audience. Even Marks and Spencer is getting into consumer electronics now.

Industry veteran and co-organiser of the event Bob Snyder was also positive about the future.

“There is a healthy optimism at the moment, they dfont feel they are out of the woods yet, but they feel they will be soon. GfK did a speech last night that stated that during the recession consumers have make a lot of trade offs, but not with high tech products.”
