Deal negotiated to boost sales ahead of World Cup

Samsung to offer Blu-ray bundle

The British Video Association has organised a deal between Samsung and Universal Pictures to bring a HDTV bundle offer to the UK.

According to ERT Online, the move has come after plans to broadcast the World Cup in HD were revealed, and follows the BVA’s commitment to promote Blu-ray format in the United Kingdom.

“Sales of HDTVs are set to increase as football fans want to watch the World Cup in full high-definition glory,” said the BVA’s Simon Heller. “We’re launching this great value Blu-ray bundle to help retailers capitalise on HDTV sales by providing them with a great value offer for their customers.”

Included in the bundle will be a number of movies, including Mamma Mia, Bruno, Sweeney Todd and 300, which will be offered alongside Samsung’s BD-C8200 and BD-C8500 Blu-ray player and a HDTV-compatible digital tuner.
