US actor Justin Long says vendor is ?going to move on?

Apple to axe ?Get a Mac? ads?

Justin Long, who played the Mac in the US versions of Apple’s ‘Get a Mac’ adverts has stated that the vendor is going to axe the campaign.

Talking to entertainment website The AV Club, Long said that he had heard from John Hodgman – who played the straight laced, bumbling PC – that the campaign would be coming to a close.

“You know, I think they might be done” said Long. “In fact, I heard from John, I think they’re going to move on. I can’t say definitively, which is sad, because not only am I going to miss doing them, but also working with John. I’ve become very close with him, and he’s one of my dearest, greatest friends.”

While the campaign did generate a great deal of publicity for Apple, the PC character became increasingly popular and went on to be used by Microsoft in it’s ‘I’m a PC’ advertisements.
