UK smartphone use has grown 70 per cent in the last year, according to marketing analysts comScore.
Of the countries surveyed (UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy) the UK leads in terms of growth, reaching 11 million smartphone users. France is up 48 per cent to seven million and Italy is up 11 per cent to 15 million.
There are a total of 51.6 million smartphone users across the five European countries.
The rise in adoption is happening in parallel with a squeeze in average smartphone tariffs. According to comScore, the mid to low-tier is growing faster than high-tier subscriptions (over £35 in the UK or €50 in Euro currency countries) in each of the ‘EU5’ markets.
