Group aims to finish new outlets by Christmas

DSGi steams ahead with 2-in-1 store plans

Retail giant DSGi is powering ahead with its revamp plans, earmarking 60 sites to become combined Currys and PC World stores.

The group is accelerating the roll-out of its new formats, expecting to have the stores finished before Christmas, along with 25 new megastores and 15 refurbished Currys, Currys Digital and PC World standalone stores.

John Browett, chief executive of DSGi, said: “The renewal and transformation plan is making significant changes to the group and we have started to see the benefits of this work. The new store formats are popular with customers, particularly the megastores and the combined two-in-one stores. The next twelve months will be another busy period as we roll out the improved proposition and introduce more services to more of our customers with an unbeatable combination of value, choice and service.”

According to the group, new format stores have seen gross profits up an average of 20 per cent. 139 outlets have now been revamped across the UK and Ireland.
