February figures show significant like-for-like hike

London retail sales jump 9.9%

Central London retail sales rose by 9.9 per cent during February compared to the same period last year, despite disruption caused by the snow.

By contrast January, which was more heavily effected by the extreme weather, grew by 3.4 per cent, according to figures from the British Retail Consortium.

The boost has partly been attributes to the relative weakness of Sterling, which has attracted overseas shoppers to the region.
