Software giant to showcase new mobile OS at Mobile World Congress

Microsoft set to unveil Windows Mobile 7

Microsoft is expected to debut its Windows Mobile 7 operating system today at this year’s Mobile World Congress.

According to the Financial Times, CEO Steve Ballmer will showcase the new OS, as well as confirm that it will be publicly available before the end of 2010.

Ballmer is expected to focus primarily on the GUI of the operating system, as Microsoft pushes to make its products contemporary and intuitive.

Microsoft is currently reckoned to hold around 18 per cent of the mobile operating system, according to comScore, while Apple holds 25 per cent.
