Apple CEO says Google motto is "bullshit" and Adobe is "lazy"

Steve Jobs slams rivals

Steve Jobs has used the platform of a Town Hall meeting at Apple’s headquarters to strongly criticise Google and Adobe.

According to Wired, which has obtained paraphrased quotes from the event, Jobs told assembled Apple employees that Google’s ‘Don’t be Evil’ motto is “bullshit.”

“We did not enter the search business,” Jobs is alleged to have said. “They entered the phone business. Make no mistake they want to kill the iPhone. We won’t let them. This don’t be evil mantra: It’s bullshit.”

Although other reports suggest that Jobs actually said “it’s a load of crap”, the essential message remains the same. He went on to criticise Adobe, despite having fond memories of its older days.

“They are lazy,” Jobs is reported to have said. “They have all this potential to do interesting things but they just refuse to do it. They don’t do anything with the approaches that Apple is taking, like Carbon. Apple does not support Flash because it is so buggy. Whenever a Mac crashes more often than not it’s because of Flash. No one will be using Flash. The world is moving to HTML5.”
