Vendor claims new devices are 'world first'

BETT 2010: Casio’s new projectors make UK debut

Casio Electronics has shown its new range of hybrid high-brightness projectors for the first time in the UK, at this year’s BETT educational technology show.

The devices, launched last week at CES in Las Vegas, contain a hybrid light source, using a ‘world first’ combination of laser, a phosphor and an LED. Part of Casio’s Green Slim range, the light source is mercury free and lasts up to ten times longer than conventional projector lamps.

The devices reach a brightness of 3,000 lumens, meaning that they can be used in classrooms without dimming the lights.

According to Casio’s senior product marketing manager, Nieve Cavanagh, the entry level version of the device will be priced around £700, plus VAT, while the highest spec projector will cost around £1,00 and will include features such as wireless connectivity.
