Delivery from online store delayed as vendor investigates graphics issues

Apple delays shipping 27-inch iMacs after display problems

Apple has delayed shipping its new 27-inch iMacs while it finds the cause of various display problems, authorised resellers have said.

Apple’s UK online store is currently quoting a two week delivery period for the 27-inch iMacs, compared to 24 hours for other sizes.

According to ComputerworldUK, the move follows the creation of a website which lists various issues that have been found with that model, including flickering or noisy displays and yellow tinted screens.

Two authorised European Apple resellers contacted the website to report that all shipments had been pushed back as the vendor replaces the machines’ graphics cards.

Canadian Web designer Scott Pronych created the ‘Apple iMac (Fall 2009) Issues’ site after he received a 27-inch iMac with a shattered screen and decided to document the display problems. According to ComputerworldUK, Pronych has found more than 600 users who have had trouble with their new machines.
