Apple unveils holiday lineup

Apple has revealed its new Christmas lineup, which includes updated versions of MacBook, iMac and Mac Mini.

The iMac range has been revamped to include two new screen sizes – 21.5-inch and 27-inch, with prices starting at $1,199.

Both models feature widescreen LED-backlit displays and 4GB of 1,066 MHz DDR3 memory, which can be upgraded to 16GB.

The smaller version sports a 1,920×1,080 pixel display, with the option of either NVIDIA GeForce 9400M integrated graphics or ATI Radeon HD 4670 discrete graphics.

The 27-inch model features a 2,560×1,440 pixel display – 60 per cent more pixels than the previous 24-inch model – and either ATI Radeon HD 4670 discrete graphics or ATI Radeon HD 4850 discrete graphics.

The new MacBook has a polycarbonate unibody design, similar to the MacBook Pro, with prices starting at $999.

The notebook features an LED-backlit display, 2GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive, and NVIDIA GeForce 9400M integrated graphics. According to Apple, the new battery lasts up to seven hours.

The Mac Mini now comes in $599 and $799 versions, both with NVIDIA GeForce 9400 graphic chipsets. The less expensive of the two features 2GB of 1,066 Mhz RAM and a 160GB hard drive, with the premium version sporting 4GB of RAM, and a 320GB hard drive. It can also be upgraded to include Mac OS X Snow Leopard Server and two hard drives.

Mac also announced its new Magic Mouse, the entire top of which is one multitouch surface. According to Apple, the mouse allows users to perform tasks using "intuitive gestures", and can be configured as a single-button or two-button mouse.

The Magic Mouse is priced at $70 and also comes with the new iMac.
