Sales of memory products up as increased use of technology spurs on changing purchasing habits

Storage boosted by back to school season

The storage channel has seen a boost in demand from the back to school season, as increasing use of technology in school has changed the way pupils work.

According to several companies, sales of storage products have shot through the roof over previous years, with this year seeing similar levels of demand.

"We always see a spike in demand at this time of the year due to the back to school season," said Kingston’s regional director for UK and Ireland Ann Keefe. "Prior to all new school terms, and particularly during the summer before the new university intake, we see an increase in sales of USB flash drives."

VIP product manager Darren Jackson echoed those sentiments, adding that the way schools use technology is having a major impact on sales of memory. "As technologies have advanced, lessons and homework have become much more interactive and creative," commented Jackson.

"As images and videos have become more integrated into school life, the demand placed upon storage requirements has grown."
