Nokia, Vodafone and O2 all see strong growth, according to Nielsen

Mobile website visitor numbers swell

Mobile phone websites have become the fastest growing sector in the UK, in terms of visits, according to the latest research from Nielsen.

On average, websites recorded a 58 per cent increase in unique visitors. In total, 12.2 million people in the UK visited mobile phone websites, up from 7.7m in July 2008, reports Marketing Week.

Nokia in particular benefited, seeing an increase of 203 per cent, while Vodafone and O2 saw their visits increase by 91 per cent and 79 per cent respectively.

Much of the increase in visits is down to strong advertising from mobile phone recycling companies, such as Envirofone and Mazuma. The controversial mobile phone directory service 118 800 also contributed to the increase, according to Nielsen.
