Trade body permanently expels Laptop Revival following suspension

TCA expels member after Sky News report

The Technology Channels Association has expelled Hammersmith based Laptop Revival following a Sky News report which secretly filmed workers at the business stealing photos and files, including bank information.

The trade body initially temporarily suspended membership while it gave the retailer a chance to defend itself. When no explanation was forthcoming, it was permanently dismissed.

CEO of the TCA, Keith Warburton said: “This sort of activity will not be tolerated by the TCA. Notwithstanding our Code of Practice to which all of our member must conform, this was a clear and shameful breach of customer confidentiality. We’ll leave it to other authorities to determine what, if any, laws have been broken by Laptop Revival. This is only the fifth member we’d ever had to expel in over sixteen years, and never in such circumstances.”
