Vendor warns it 'anticipates' dropping an existing partner following agreement

Symantec appoints SCH Distribution

Symantec has signed a distribution deal with SCH Distribution, but has warned that it will be dropping an existing partner in the coming months.

According to Microscope, the vendor said that SCH fitted in well with where the company was looking to take its enterprise and business level security products.

Symantec currently has partnerships with DNS Arrow, Bell Micro, CMS and Avnet Technology Solutions for its enterprise portfolio, while Ingram Micro and Computer 2000 handle its volume products such as Back-Up Exec and N Point.

Speaking to the magazine, EMEA channel vice president Jason Ellis said that SCH would begin distributing its portfolio from July, but warned it was looking to cut an existing partner.

"We expect to consolidate our channel. We anticipate reducing our distributors to the original number.

"SCH has a hugely attractive system business, we see a lot of opportunity to sell our security and storage products alongside their mid-range server business," he added.
