HP offers Elite media performance

HP’s latest addition to the Pavilion series is the Elite m9600. Designed for a multimedia role, the m9600 has a strong emphasis on performance and carries a large amount of memory to support this.

In its basic form, priced at £646 the system is powered by Intel’s Core i7 920 processor with 500 megabytes of hard drive space and it carries a SuperMulti DVD RW drive.

This basic platform features a number of optional additions and upgrades, available at extra cost. The processor can be upgraded to a Core i7 940, while memory capacity can be expanded to up to a terabyte of storage, RAM can be upgraded to 12 gigabytes and an Nvidia GeForce 9600 GS graphics card can be installed.

The disc drive can be changed to a Blu-ray DVD writer and the graphics card can be switched to an ATI Radeon HD–4850. Meanwhile, the m9600 carries two integrated drive bays for the optional HP Personal Media Drive and HP Pocket Media Drive.

“Media enthusiasts and creators need high performance, tonnes of storage and high definition,” said the vice president of marketing for HP’s Worldwide Consumer PC Business, John Cook. “Customers will find this model to be a total package and great value.”

Additionally, HP’s 20-inch 2009m high definition monitor is available at a discounted price when purchased with the Pavilion Elite m9600.
