Distributor looks to increase its leadership of mobile sector in the IT channel

Micro-P signs O2

Micro-P is to offer O2 mobile broadband to its 4,000 IT resellers and retailers, after the distributor struck a deal with the UK’s largest network.

The partnership sees the Altham-based company strengthen its grip on the mobile broadband market. It signed a distribution agreement with rival 3 last October.

Speaking to Mobile News, Micro-P’s managing director Gerry O’Keefe explained that the distributor was looking to push the dongles to its 4,000 IT resellers.

As with its agreement with 3, Micro-P will bundle the dongles with netbooks and laptops from its key vendor partners, including Sony, Acer, Samsung and Toshiba.

"As part of our continued business growth and development, we are very pleased to have been appointed an authorised distributor by O2," O’Keefe told the mobile trade publication.

"This partnership gives us a really strong proposition and further underlines us as the market leader in mobile distribution."

The news comes less than a month after Micro-P announced a promotion to drive sales of its 3 dongles, as reported by PCR.
