Acer exec lets slip Windows 7 release date

Acer’s UK managing director has revealed that Windows 7 will ship on October 23rd, several months ahead of the original 2010 release date.

Speaking to Pocket Lint, Bobby Watkins let slip the release date while revealing details of its upcoming all in one PC, the Z5600.

He also revealed details about Microsoft’s upgrade plans, with customers purchasing a Vista-based PC in the 30 days before Windows 7’s release date will be eligible for a free upgrade.

"October 23rd is the date that Windows 7 will be available," Watkins told Pocket Lint. "There is a 30 day upgrade time, so that customers don’t wait to buy a new computer, so if you buy during that 30 day period, you’ll get a free upgrade to Windows 7."
