Netbooks and mobile broadband at centre of strategy

Vodafone to create 200 jobs

Mobile broadband and netbooks are at the heart of 200 jobs being created by Vodafone UK as part of its major store rollout plan.

The network has confirmed that it has secured the locations of all 50 stores, which are part of its expansion plans announced last year. 40 of those stores have already opened, while the last ten are now in the process of being fitted out.

"In August we outlined plans to increase the number of stores to give customers more opportunity to get face-to-face help," explained director of sales at Vodafone UK, Tom Devine. "This could be about anything from which handset is right for them, to receiving advice on the latest in mobile broadband technology such as the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 with built-in mobile broadband."

The expansion programme will take the total number of stores the network has on UK High Streets to 400. "We are delighted we’ve been able to complete the roll out on time and feedback from customers has been tremendous," added Devine.
