Acer has announced that it will be using its existing PC distribution channels to bring its new smartphone to the UK market.
Computer 2000, Micro-P, Ingram Micro and ETC have all been named as distribution partners, as Acer seeks an aggressive entry in to the lucrative smartphone sector.
Acer unveiled the four models at the recent Mobile World Conference in Barcelona and our sister publication Mobile Entertainment reports that four more are expected before the end of this year.
“Our ambition is to become a leader in the mobile data market,” commented Acer’s senior corporate vice president Aymar de Lencquesaing. “It’s in our DNA. We will look to leverage our existing UK facilities. The mobile channel will benefit from being able to partner with us to provide netbooks too.”
