Chip giant shifts chip testing operations to south west China

Intel moves 2,000 workers

Intel is set to move a chip testing facility from Shanghai to Chengdu, in the south westerly region of China.

The 2,000 effected workers will be offered to keep their jobs and move to Chengdu, or take up positions at a new chip making plant currently being built in Dalian, according to the Wall Street Journal.

This is part of Intel’s plan to close down a number of older factories following the 90 per cent profit drop recorded in its Q4 results.
