Vendor launches ?HD Zones? in 60 supermarkets

LG teams up with Tesco

LG has introduced a new initiative to help explain to consumers the differences and benefits of HD technology compared to standard definition products.

According to ERT, the new zones now feature in 60 Tesco stores across the UK, and are bolstered with an online educational campaign.

“As well as developments in picture clarity, colour and definition, LG strives to manufacture products that are as eco-friendly as possible,” said George Mead, LG UK’s marketing manager for digital displays. “The inclusion of award winning ambient light sensors into most of our 2009 range of TVs, called Intelligent Sensor, automatically adjusts to light conditions, and optimises the picture quality while saving up to 62 per cent of power consumption. Sixty per cent of Brits still do not own an HD TV. This provides a gap in the TV market and a massive opportunity for retailers to convert to sales,"
