Ultra-cheap laptop scheme hits Europe

Online retailer Amazon and the One Laptop Per Child campaign have teamed up to sell a new range ultra cheap ‘XO’ laptops across Europe.

Apart from being one of the cheapest computers available, buying the XO will also appeal to people’s philanthropy, since a second laptop is donated to a child in a developing nation each time one is purchased.

The ‘give One, Get One’ programme, which has begun running in the US, will be available through Amazon in Europe from November 17th.

The machine will cost approximately £268 for UK customers.
