New Windows emulator hits shelves

Parallels 4.0 to grow Apple

Virtualisation specialist Parallels has unveiled the fourth version of its software that allows Windows to be run on an Apple Mac.

The move has been made following encouragement from Apple, which is interested growing its presence in the business and corporate sector.

Parallels’ UK and Ireland manager, Russell Blackburn has told MicroScope that the Parallels program has allowed Apple to penetrate some of Microsoft’s traditional core markets.

“It has helped Apple and publicly driven its business into different areas,” he said. “For the IT administrator they can treat a Mac like a Windows machine.”
