Supermarket sees tech sales rise by nine per cent compared to the same time last year, helped by PCs and cameras

Electronics help Tesco to strong quarter

Tesco has seen strong sales of electricals, despite what it describes as tough economic conditions.

The UK’s largest supermarket chain said that sales of electricals had risen by nine per cent, ahead of overall non-food sales, which grew at 7.3 per cent.

It said that computers and cameras had performed particularly strong during the quarter.

Overall, the group saw revenue grow by 13.8 per cent (£25.6bn) while profits were also up by 9.4 per cent at £1.37bn.
