Google, Microsoft and Sony voted biggest brands in UK's yearly consumer brand index

Tech firms dominate Superbrand top ten

Superbrands has released its top ten consumer brands in the UK, with Google, Microsoft and Sony all represented.

The list, which is voted for by a panel of experts and thousands of UK consumers every year, has been dominated by technology firms for the past few years.

However, it is the first time that Sony has made it into the top ten, jumping 31 places from last year’s ranking of 41. Much of the success has been put down to Sony’s focus on bringing its hardware and content businesses together.

Speaking about the success to ERTWeekly, Sony’s UK commericial director Andy Benson commented: "We’re delighted to receive a public endorsement of our brand investments over the recent months.

"At a time where many brands are focusing on purely price as a core message, we believe that by presenting entertainment through Sony United to consumers and media alike, we are putting clear water between Sony and the competition."
