Following the demise of HD-DVD, Sony is predicting that Blu-ray sales could surpass that of standard DVDs as early as 2011.
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment’s Asia Pacific vice president Tim Meade estimated that by 2010 the ratio of Blu-ray sales to DVD will be 40:60, and Blu-ray could take the lead year later.
Apparently, 25 per cent of all disk types sold will be Blu-ray by the end of the year, compared to nine per cent at the end of 2007.
