Retail consultant predicts market leader to disappear from towns as it moves online

Marshall: “DSGi gone from High Street in five years”

Retail consultant Malcolm Marshall has said that he doesn’t see DSGi having a presence on the UK High Street in five years.

The retailer, turned consultant, was speaking to ERTV when he made the frank comment. "I don’t think DSGi will be on the high street in the next five years – they’ll be on the internet and across Europe, but they won’t be on the high street in England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland."

"They’re being squeezed by very good independents – there’s an awful lot of them still out there – and they’re being squeezed by Comet and the supermarkets, who are getting their act together," he added.
