First look at Microsoft?s follow up to Vista points to new interface

Windows 7 confirmed, screenshots leaked

After a long period of radio silence on the issue, Microsoft has confirmed that the next version of Windows will arrive sometime in 2010, as the first screen shots emerge on the web.

Some have drawn parallels to Apple OS X, with the interface – if the images are to be believed – representing a bigger departure from the traditional Windows format than Vista saw.

Apparently, client versions of the operating system will be available in 32-bit and 64-bit versions, while a server version – unsurprisingly dubbed Windows Server 7 – is also in the works.

The leaked screenshots can be found here.
