Promises quieter and more efficient cooling, inspired by seaweed

MSI launches innovative new fan design

Engineers at Nvidia board partner MSI has used nature as the inspiration for their latest technological development, a fan, which is claims generates a more regulated air-flow and higher air pressure resulting in lower noise and temperatures.

The new fan will debut on the firm’s Nvidia GeForce 9600 GSO, though no date has been set as to when it is likely to hit the High Street.

The inspiration was apparently seaweed, and the way currents interact with it, though the firm did not elaborate on how it came about the discovery.

"The MSI thermal shielding extends the hood as close as possible to the bracket to decrease turbulence cause by the unnecessary blank zone," the firm said in a press release.
