Firm looks to provide recurring profits for its reseller and retailer partners with Orbitas

Target takes aim at SaaS sector

Following a rebranding and structural shake-up, Target has joined the growing number of companies investing in Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) by launching its own initiative called Orbitas.

Aimed at start-up to medium sized businesses, Target is pushing the subscription based service as an opportunity for its reseller partners to draw in repeat revenue streams, and claims to be the first UK distributor to bundle software with ‘business strength’ broadband.

Currently, titles such as TAS Books, Panda, Diino and Ability Office are available via Orbitas, with more software set to bolster this portfolio in the future.

"Quite simply, our customers are thrilled to be able to generate recurring monthly revenue by providing a service that requires no investment in stock and that more and more end users are asking for," Target’s market development director Randall Pevin told PC Retail.

"There are a number of ground breaking features incorporated in the Orbitas concept. The link with ISP and software applications in delivering such a low cost office solution will be of great benefit to small, medium and start up businesses.

"The fact that this is available via a subscription model will help companies to operate with fully licensed, quality business software without the customary initial investment.

We are delighted that the products and services are also available individually, if required, for established businesses whilst ensuring that the monthly costs are highly competitive. As one of the first entrants into this exciting new market with the quality of software and services available, we believe that Orbitas will enjoy quick and large scale customer adoption."
