Displaces rival Intel, however, is still far behind in overall volume and value markets

AMD becomes consumer market leader

Despite recent losses, AMD managed to claw back market share in the consumer markets with it displacing rival Intel in the process accord to the latest report from market research firm Context.

AMD saw its Mobile Turion 64 X2 processor increase its share of the consumer volume market to 30 per cent, compared with Intel’s Core 2 Duo, which managed 27 per cent and Celeron M, which claimed 24 per cent.

However, Intel still dominates the overall volume market, which includes business sales though analysts have said that AMD’s success in the consumer market could signal the direction the overall market is heading in.
