PC vendor boss pays homage to the channel, as it makes bold growth claims

HP salutes channel

The chief executive of HP, Mark Hurd, has thanked the EMEA channel for its part in helping the firm achieve last year’s $104 billion turnover, at the firm’s EMEA Preferred Partner Conference in San Francisco.

He also said the firm is planning to increase growth and partner opportunities this year, and boasted that HP products accounted for half of the $1.2 trillion PC market.

“There is no way we could have done that without your [partners] help,” said Hurd, reported CRN. “I know we don’t do everything perfectly and we don’t do everything great, but you all have my thanks and appreciation.”

“Why shouldn’t we go after the other 50 per cent [of the market]? We think we have the best products and services on planet Earth, but we need even more help from our partners. We don’t necessarily need more partners, but what we really want is more dedication. That doesn’t mean you have to be exclusive with HP. We are going to try and get our go to market right and make it simpler for you to do business with us. We will do everything we can that is not illegal or unethical to help partners win every deal they can.”
