Acer: Blu-ray to account for ten per cent of laptops

Blu-ray laptops will account for ten per cent of Acer’s total laptop shipments during 2008 according to the vendor’s Taiwan president.

Talking about the company’s shipment targets for this year, Scott Lin said: "Acer aims to ship 22 million notebooks in 2008, with large-size BD notebooks and low-cost notebooks both regarded as focuses for deployment.

"Global notebook shipments are expected to grow by 30 per cent on year to surpass 130 million, with BD notebooks to account for 10 per cent of the anticipated amount," added Lin.

He added that Acer is expecting to ship around 40,000 of its 18.4-inch Blu-ray laptops and 70,000 of its 16-inch Blu-ray laptops.
