Microsoft and Acer have opened their third concept store in the Asia-Pacific region, following recent launches in Vietnam and Thailand.
The Malaysian store, which is located at Low Yat Plaza in the country’s capital Kuala Lumpur, is a 2,100sq ft outlet and is the largest of the three stores opened by the two companies.
Both companies are aiming to develop brand loyalty among the new middle-classes that are emerging, with workshops designed for parents, and the staff of SMEs.
"There are new parental controls within Windows that parents need to learn about while home users can improve their IT skills," said Microsoft’s Asia-Pacific senior regional OEM business manager, Christanto Suryadarma.
Acer’s sales and services general manager, Ricky Tan, echoed his comments: "Our objective is not to sell but to educate. However, we hope that our education efforts will also translate into sales."
