USA: Vendor suing Maxicom PC for selling products on the grey market

HP sues reseller

HP has filed for a lawsuit worth $4 million against a US reseller that allegedly manipulated the vendor’s partner scheme to gain larger discounts than it should have been entitled to.

HP claims that Maxicom PC misrepresented who the equipment would be sold on to, adding that it believes the company then went on to use the discounts gained to sell on the ‘grey market’ at an unfair advantage.

Speaking about the case, HP’s US channel chief Adrian Jones said: "HP is committed to supporting our authorized business partners and protecting our mutual customers.

"We’re committed to prosecuting those parties who use fraudulent means to obtain HP products for the purpose of selling them through unauthorized channels."
