Brigantia, Network Buying Group and Integra all to be targeted by components specialist

PNY-Enta deal sees vendor aim for big three

PNY is on the verge of signing a deal with the UK’s three largest IT buying groups that would see the vendor selling its full range products through them.

The move comes less than one week after the components vendor signed up Enta Technologies as its fifth UK distributor. It is also the first distributor that will carry the vendor’s full range of memory products, which were previously only available through PC World.

Speaking about the deal, PNY’s UK distribution manager, Neil Hill admitted to CRN that one of the key reasons why the vendor signed Enta over other distributors was its close relationship to the three major buying groups. Between them, they have around 1,700 members.

"This gives us complete coverage from a retail point of view, so everyone can now walk into a store and see the PNY brand," said Hill. "This gives us an extra dimension in the components space that we did not previously have. The main focus on the partnership will be to launch our memory products into the UK channel. The two main players there are Kingston Technology and Corsair, and we are hoping to take as much market share from them as we can."

Enta’s vice president, Jon Atherton added: "PNY has made very strong inroads into retail with PC World, but realises it now needs to focus on the channel. Enta will be the only distributor carrying all of PNY’s products. No one else can offer a one-stop shop on its portfolio."
