Famous brand name to be used as parent company's identity

Japanese electronics giant to revamp image

Matsushita, the company that owns and uses the Panasonic brand, announced that it is to change its name to the globally recognised trademark.

The manufacturer announced that the rebranding would happen on October 1st, bringing the company’s Matsushita, National and Panasonic brands under the new corporate name.

The decision to call the entire company Panasonic must be approved by shareholders at the annual meeting in June. The move is unlikely to affect branding of any products in the UK.
