DRM loses friends

Days after Warner Music declared their lost love for DRM, Sony BMG appear to have jumped on the bandwagon.

According to Business Week, the last big supporter of DRM, Sony BMG, will follow the lead of the other major music labels and make at least a part of its catalogue available without the copyright protection software.

Digital Rights Management was set up to give copyright holders the ability to limit the usage of their digital media or devices. This proved deeply unpopular with consumers and over the past few months more and more companies have abandoned the technologies.
