New-look trade fair is more efficient, shorter in length and features more variety than previous years.

CeBIT 2008 gets streamlined

The organisers of CeBIT have announced some significant changes to the 2008 fair.

The first change comes with the reduction in its running time, which has been cut by one day, with the event now running from March 4th to 9th. The various market segments have also been grouped together in three display sections: Business Solutions, Public Sector Solutions and Home and Mobile Solutions, and they are all underpinned by a fourth section entitled Technology and Infrastructure.

Organisers have also revealed the new themes for the year, which are Consulting and Services, Learning and Knowledge Solutions, as well as Design: driving innovation. The supporting conference, entitled CeBIT Global Conferences, has also been expanded to feature a wealth of high calibre speakers, with the hot topics including green IT, recruitment, Web 2.0, eGovernment, mobile communication and healthcare.

The opening keynote addresses will be given by Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft, Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel, the French President Nicolas Sarkozy and BITKOM president Professors August-Wilhelm Scheer.
