HP gradually taking slices of market share from Dell

Global PC shipments rise by 15.5 per cent

Researcher IDC has reported that total worldwide PC shipments saw growth of 15.5 per cent in the third quarter. In the period, HP accounted for 19.6 per cent of all shipments, a 33 per cent increase year on year for the company.

The rapid growth has seen HP take further market share from competitor Dell, who remain the worlds second largest PC manufacturer. The gap between HP and Dell grew 4.4 per cent, up 1.2 per cent on the previous quarter.

Dell, however had fair growth in EMEA as well as in the Asia Pacific region. Lenovo, meanwhile held onto the number three slot, representing 8.2 per cent of all shipments, a 22.9 per cent growth on a year earlier.

Acer saw the strongest growth with a massive 59.2 per cent year on year improvement in shipments. The company are now hot on Lenovo’s heels with only 0.2 per cent market share to gain before they snatch the third place spot.
