Dell’s chief executive has predicted that a large percentage of his company’s business customers will have upgraded their systems to Vista by 2009. Michael Dell told journalists at the Gartner ITxpo Symposium: "We have a number [of business customers] who have gone to Vista, and almost all are planning to go to Vista: some in 2008, and some in 2009. As they take on new IT deployments with new hardware features, Vista will be much better supported."
The suggestion that Vista uptake will increase runs contrary to research published earlier this month by market researchers Context, which found that there has been a general decline in the pace of the latest windows uptake.
The research found that, during August 2007, only 13 per cent of PC sales from European distributors were accounted for by Windows Vista Business, while 27 per cent of sales were accounted for by XP Proffesional.
