Over 50 per cent will be spent on antivirus software

Security spending to reach ?1.65 billion

A recent report by analysts Gartner has suggested that spending on security software across Europe will reach £1.65 billion before the end of 2007, with antivirus software constituting the largest portion.

According to its figures, more than 50 per cent of all revenues taken from security software this year will be spent on antivirus.

The report by Gartner analyst, Ruggero Contu, however said that organisations are becoming more sophisticated in the way that they decide which choose their security software.

He also said that while customers are becoming more savvy, security needs are increasing to the point where it is difficult for single vendors to deal with security requirements. "Customers require products that integrate with their security architecture rather than disconnected point solutions."
