Details of new Windows OS leaked

A leak has revealed Vista’s sequel, currently known as Windows 7, is already in development and is scheduled to be released in just three years.

No major details of the new operating system were revealed, however, what is known is that it will be a full OS release, available for both business and consumers and will come in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. According to the Seattle PI, Microsoft is keen to "more predictable release schedule."

The news comes as the president of Acer, Gianfranco Lanci told the Financial Times Deutschland that he felt the whole industry was disappointed with Vista. He also said that never before had he seen a Microsoft operating system do as little for PC and laptop sales as Vista.

It also follows reports that Microsoft are looking to move the release of Vista service pack one forward to September. It is believed that Microsoft is keen bring forward the release date to allay concerns of vendors and shareholders that customers and businesses are waiting for the release before investing in the new operating system.
