Vendor more concerned with focusing on the channel

No price cuts from AMD

AMD has said that it will not be cutting the prices of its hardware, dispelling rumours that a price war could have been on the way.

AMD marketing director Gary Bixter, the company had no intention of causing the chaos that reigned following last year’s price war between it and rival Intel. He said that AMD was more focused on courting the channel after it failed to supply the right chips in the right quanities at the end of last year.

He added that any price cuts would be communicated to distributors and corporate customers long before they reached retail.
